With the pace of life today, it is easy to get caught up in thinking that the career that you have is one that you want.
Then there are the more challenging career scenarios some of us may face. One moment you feel you are working successfully up the corporate ladder, impressing your bosses and winning clients. The next thing, your career has gone spectacularly off the rails. Perhaps you have made some ‘how did I miss that’ errors of judgment, or that aggressive attitude or driving approach that worked so well for you in sales isn’t appreciated at the managerial level. Or you’ve become too specialised and have failed to acquire broader skills in a timely way. Or it could be that the job you’ve put your heart and soul into for the last 15 years just isn’t ringing your bells anymore, maybe it never did.
What would you do? How can you avoid the mistakes that can derail your career and take years to turn around?
On the other hand, your career may be progressing extremely well, but you feel you need to consolidate the success you have had to date. Or you have a hunch you may be inevitably approaching a career crossroad not too far down the track. Or you want to explore ways in which you can take advantage of bigger and better opportunities in the organisation you work for or in a new one.
How can you sustain a successful career which is, at the same time, satisfying?
